35

Birthday week always kicks off with some cinnamon rolls in honor of a special guy.  With 3 birthdays in a week, the boys get to decide what they want for breakfast on their birthday.  Initially all three wanted cinnamon rolls but then Calvin started thinking about other yummy things you could choose and changed his mind to donuts.  Not any healthier, but hey it was a change.

We had Marvin’s birthday dinner earlier in the week, fried tacos and peanut butter pie.  So on his actual birthday we put the kids to bed and some friends came over and we went out to eat.

It was a great meal, great conversation, and a fun new restaurant we had never tried before.  I usually don’t enjoy going out to eat here due to the lack of options but this place offered a few things I haven’t seen anywhere else.  What a treat to get to enjoy a meal without having to cut up anyone’s food or eating one handed while holding a baby.

Boo-ka-ball Judah’s TWO!

Judah loves balls.  He’s quite obsessed actually.  For the longest time he called everything boo-ka-ball.  If he finds a stick like object he’ll find a ball and for hours can play his own version of baseball.

So it was an easy choice for a baseball birthday party.  His cake was easy, which made the day much easier.

He had a great time.  We had a sunflower seed spitting contest, bubble gum blowing contest, a little baseball relay race and then a home run derby using water balloons.
Our little birthday boy enjoyed hanging out beside the water balloons.

For our meal we had a hot dog bar with cheese, onions, chili, bacon, jalapenos on homemade buns.  We had to have chips, because that’s one of Judah’s favorite things ever!

It was a fun day to celebrate our always smiling little guy.

He's added so much joy to our life.  I'm so thankful for all he brings to our family.

The Toddler Years {sigh}

There was a point where I really loved toddlers.  I still love how their whole world is unexplored territory, how every little thing can be seen with eyes of excitement and wonder.  A bug, a stick, a rock, or a bird can capture their attention for hours.  Often I think they see the beauty of the world better than any adult.  When was the last time you were enthralled with a rock?

But parenting a toddler is exhausting sometimes.  Little Mr. has been obsessed with the laundry detergent for a long time.  He knows he shouldn’t play in it, but man is it hard to resist the fun.  He’s defeated all locks in our house and now can open the fridge, which he does about a thousand times a day.  Recently he’s started trying to pour himself his own milk.  Which means lots of sopping up messes.

He also went through a stage where he’d get the eggs out of the fridge.  He even made himself a pot of them once.  Of course all this was done while I was nursing Drew, it’s so hard to keep an eye on him.  (He now refers to them as Daddy's Eggs and then follows that up by saying yucky.)

His current obsession is getting out apples and yogurt.  He's perfected the two finger spoon for yogurt consumption, however a lot of it usually ends up on his shirt, hair, floor, etc.
I stepped into the kitchen and this little one quickly closed the door to the fridge and hid.  Mr. Yogurt fingers isn't so sly.

 I am sure we’ll have more fun through this next year.  It’s no wonder why I sleep hard every night.
